How does a jet gun work?
You may also know sandblasting guns by the popular term sandblasting guns or sandblasters. Their use is simple, you just need to own an air compressor to which you connect the gun. However, be careful if it has sufficient power, because blast guns, even ordinary ones, normally consume around 300 litres of air per minute for continuous operation. With a less powerful compressor, you may still run out of air from the pressure vessel and the compressor will not be able to produce new air. Please note that continuous operation is not desirable for reciprocating compressors as they need some cooling time.
There are two types of blast guns to choose from, each of which works differently. Injector blasting guns (with connection to a hose that sucks in abrasive under vacuum) or a blast gun with a pressure vessel for abrasive, which is also used by professionals. The abrasive is conveyed to the nozzle by compressed air.
Materials you can blast:
- iron
- aluminium
- plastic
- concrete
- masonry
- glass
- wood
- ceramics
Do you need a sandbox or not?
A frequent question. Keep in mind that the box is not mobile and the investment can be high unless you build it yourself. It is also not possible to work with larger objects. Its advantage is that you avoid dust in the surroundings. Thanks to recycling, it is also possible to blast with more expensive and higher quality abrasives, which are more effective than sand. Silica sand is commonly used for economic reasons. The advantage of the gun is the primitive mounting to the compressor and subsequent handling, in addition, for occasional use or for smaller items, it is perfectly sufficient.
