Compressed Air Moisture Removal Air Dryers
Air dryers help you get rid of condensation. These devices, which are connected behind the compressor, are an integral part of the compressed air treatment programme. We offer you three types of dryers - condensing, absorption and membrane dryers. By installing them , you can multiply the lifetime of connected pneumatic tools, blow or spray guns or automated line components such as cylinders and valves. Less servicing costs for these connected devices will please any air compressor operator. The differences between the dryers are described in the sequel.

How to choose the right type of air dryer?
Condensation dryers
The most sought after type for air drying in workshops and most areas of industry. Well-known manufacturers include Hanksion or international Mark Compressors or Omega Air. In condensation dryers, the compressed air is first cooled to a temperature below the pressure dew point. This condenses the water vapour in the air and turns it into water. It will be taken out of the air.
Advantages of condensation dryers
- they are inexpensive
- operate without loss of compressed air
Disadvantages of condensing dryers
- the dew point can be lowered to a temperature of only +5 °C or +3 °C
- power consumption for running the fan, control system and refrigerant compressor.
- effective ventilation must be ensured
Adsorption dryers
Slightly more expensive but highly efficient dryers for industrial plants with high air quality requirements. Their hallmark is two towers filled with drying material. The drying material must be highly porous, most often activated alumina alumogel (Al2O3) or silica gel (SiO2) is used. Compressed air absorption dryers are manufactured by Omega Air, for example.
Advantages of adsorption dryers
- the dew point can be lowered to a lower temperature, depending on the drying material used, typically -25°C, -40°C or up to -75°C
Disadvantages of adsorption dryers
- adsorption dryers consume up to 20% of the supplied compressed air
- it is necessary to change the drying material cartridges regularly
Membrane dryers
This type of dryer resembles a test tube with a stopper on each side. Membrane dryers are folded a bundle of hollow fibres (membranes) through which moist compressed air flows from top to bottom. As it passes through, the moisture is forced out through the membranes and the air exits the fibre dry. They are designed for compressed air supply with low dew point at low flow rates. Leading manufacturers also include Omega Air.
Advantages membrane dryers
- minimum installation dimensions
Disadvantages of membrane dryers
- membrane dryers consume 10-30% of the supplied compressed air
*Do you find it expensive to get a quality dryer for your compressor? The truth is that all these devices always pay for themselves over time. It saves every component of the compressor system, which can work reliably and without service intervention for a long time and, above all, extremely efficiently.
