Tlaková nádoba, neboli vzdušník zabírá u kompresoru nejvíce prostoru, především pokud jde o větší objemy. Když přidáme sušičku vzduchu a mluvíme například i o víceválcovém elektromotoru, máme před sebou stroj s nároky na umístění. Ležaté tlakové nádoby tak představují klasické a především stabilní umístění, ležaté nádoby se používají také u mobilních kompresorů na kolečkách.
